TECHNICAL DESIGN SURVEY
Effective design development is an organic process that requires deliberate communication between your organization and our creative team. To help kick off and manage this process,
we have developed this survey. Successful design development is a partnership. It is up to
you to be a partner in the process.
WHY A SURVEY?
The survey is the foundation of a creative brief to help provide our design team with the guidance needed to develop design concepts that incorporate your desired style, goals and needs.
While the survey should capture the overarching vision for your project, it should also outline details, opinions and reference points to best impact final design and outcome.
The survey is not an end-all be-all for establishing design direction, but it can help streamline communications to save time, effort, and money.
Investing time and thought into your answers will improve clarity BEFORE design development begins.
Since this is an online form, we advise that you type your answers in a saved Word document and paste them in the fields.
PROJECT TYPE
What type of project are you looking to create? Will this be a remodel or new build? Please note below and if any additional is needed, please elaborate below.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Please describe your project here! This is the area where you can help us understand the projects overall objectives and essential design elements. What are the big picture items? Any goals we should know about? Is this a large format travel center, a suburban convenience store, or something completely different? Let us know; the more info the better!
ESTIMATED SQUARE FOOTAGE
What’s the estimated square footage for the project? Anything unique to note?
SITE INFO
The site plan is the first thing that people encounter and sets the customer experience. What needs to be included in this project as we develop the site plan?
LAYOUT INFO
Any given store has required components that define into the retail experience. Any info on programs, whether big or small, is important to the process. Include things like fountain or frozen programs, coffee (bean to cup?), grab and go food and roller grills, cooler and beer caves, and any other info. Please include as much info as possible.
BUILDING INFO
What kind of building are you building? Let us know construction details (if you have it) and details such as vestibules, heights (and restrictions), window preference, skylight preference, and any other relevant info.
FOOD SERVICE INFO
Please provide info on food service offerings that needs to be included in the design. Proprietary or Franchise? Large kitchen or more grab and go? This is the area to help us understand your menu and how you want to take food service to market. If there are food specific contacts involved in the process, please include their contact details.
RESTROOM SIZES
Restrooms are essential elements in any convenience store or travel center. What are your goals and elements needed? Let us know the desired sizes (rough counts for toilets, urinals, sinks, etc) for each, family restroom needs, and any other special requests.
PROJECT TIMEFRAME
Timeframe & deadline considerations can affect our designer’s schedules. Please give a rough estimate of opening & let us know the timeframe for the project and any other relevant dates.
OTHER INFO
Please use this space to report any other relevant info that we need to know before
starting the project.
